Firegarden's first album, The Matlock Bath Sessions was recorded in a single day in Matlock Bath by long-time soundman James Singleton. Musicians on The Matlock Bath Sessions were James Jeffery (bass/vocals), Tom Draper (guitar), Jake Mann (guitar) and Mark Pybis (drums). Most of the songs from the Matlock Bath Sessions were re-recorded during the Endoxa sessions the following year and these re-recordings are now available as bonus tracks on a two-disc reissue of Endoxa. The Matlock Bath Sessions shows some of the future promise of the band, particularly on standout track Metamorphosis, and provides a snapshot of the early origins of Firegarden.
