Walking on Saffron saw Firegarden enter Mad House Studios in Birmingham to record their follow up to 2164. It was the band's first time recording without soundman James Singleton. The studio time had been won in a competition at the Robin 2 earlier in the year. It was also the first time the band had recorded without guitarist Tom Draper. The line-up on Walking on Saffron comprised a power trio of James Jeffery (bass/vocals), Jake Mann (guitar) and Ashley Tuck (drums). The earliest of the songs (The River, They Never Came Home, Northern Lights) had be written at the band's house on Saffron Lane, Leicester prior to Tom's departure. The remaining songs were written by the band in Ashley's bedroom in Sheffield. Mixing was handled by next door neighbour Doctor Bob (Kickflip) and was his first work in the rock genre. Saffron contains an extraordinary set of songs hidden behind sometimes rough production. The album was released at a party at the Boardwalk, Sheffield, with Ashley leaving to live alone on an island immediately afterwards.

Firegarden Sheffield, UK

Firegarden are agents working in the Sheffield branch of a time travel bureau. They play of sexy, funky prog 'n' roll.

Jake Mann (guitar/vocals) is an ancient reptile from deep within the earth. Ashley Tuck (drums) is the creation of an alien scientist. Chris Heald (bass/vocals) is the descendent of colonists stranded on an inhospitable moon.
